Showcase of Selected Work

My work is as varied as my clients. From large corporations to small non-profit organizations. From independent development to team-based. From email design to complete sites with content management. Take a gander.

ExpressionEngine CMS

Galileo Camps worked with BigMouth and DogMo Studios to redesign their web site for children's summer camps. I joined the project to build out the new site in ExpressionEngine.

Galileo's original site was running on an earlier version of EE, but it was not optimized for the new design. I created a new EE CMS that supports related content, navigation management, dynamic marketing pages and Saleforce integration. The new CMS also supports publishing workflows for different member types. Key add-ons used in this project include Low Variables, Structure and Channel Videos.

This CMS project involved:
  • ExpressionEngine CMS

Private Intranet

Selby Corporation needed a private, password-protected "intranet" site to house corporate documents and information. Previously, Selby relied on manual distribution of this critical information to board members and shareholders, but they wanted a more automated process, as well as a private information repository for board members and shareholders. The site also needed to feature a minimalist design in terms of appearance and underlying code, in order to accommodate a wide range of users and devices.

ExpressionEngine provides the CMS for the intranet, allowing for document, events, news and image gallery management. The entire site is password-protected and runs on SSL. The site also utilizes member credentials to determine what types of information logged in users are able to access and download.

As a private site, the screenshots referenced here are from approved comps.

This full-cycle private intranet project involved:
  • CSS development
  • ExpressionEngine CMS
  • HTML5 development
  • Information architecture
  • User experience design
  • Visual interface design

Ecommerce Site

DBC Marine wanted a complete redesign of their web site to better showcase their products and convey a more sophisticated presence online. Previously using Amazon for their ecommerce, DBC also wanted a shopping cart solution that was integrated with their site content management system (CMS).

The site and shopping cart was redesigned with the user in mind, with an open and easy-to-use interface. We were also able to accommodate DBC's desire for an interactive image gallery and blog, as well as integration with social media and their mailing list system.

ExpressionEngine provided the foundation for the CMS, offering a user-friendly interface for adding and maintaining content for DBC's blog, partner information and resource. We extended EE with the CartThrob add-on, which gave us a powerful ecommerce and product management system.

This full-cycle ecommerce project involved:
  • CSS development
  • Content strategy
  • ExpressionEngine CMS
  • HTML5 development
  • Interaction design
  • Information architecture
  • jQuery
  • User experience design
  • Visual interface design

Brochure Site

Eric N. Ortiz, Attorney at Law needed a web site for his new Albuquerque-based law practice. To support the site, Mr. Ortiz wanted a content management system (CMS) for easy content entry and maintenance.

A simple project, but one that ran the full cycle of visual design, front-end development and ExpressionEngine (EE) CMS development. We chose EE not only for its ease-of-use, but also because Mr. Ortiz had another business that he wanted a web site for. ExpressionEngine provides us the foundation to extend the CMS into a multi-site system to manage content for this secondary business site, as well.

This simple brochure site and CMS involved:
  • CSS development
  • ExpressionEngine CMS
  • HTML5 development
  • Visual interface design

Brochure Site

Kefauver CPA is a small accounting firm in Tijeras, New Mexico. Rachel Kefauver, the owner, wanted a simple brochure site to highlight her staff and office, and provide additional information to clients.

For now, she's not interested in a CMS, so it was just a straightforward design and build-out. I used Rachel's logo as inspiration for the color palette, and we decided on a nice panoramic of the Sandias to emphasize her love of New Mexico.

This simple brochure site involved:
  • CSS development
  • Graphic design
  • HTML5 development
  • File optimization

Protech Associates

Demonstration Site

Protech Associates is a mid-sized, family-owned company that develops Association Management Software. Protech needed a demonstration site for a new web-based software they were developing. The site would serve as the "shell" into which they would add their ASP.NET components for things like ecommerce and event registration.

I created a site for the fictional Society of Member Experience Professionals, starting with IA planning and wireframing. I then designed the interface and and built out the front-end.

I also worked with Protech's developers on the web components for their product, establishing standards for the HTML and CSS used in the ASP.NET components.

The site is an internal demonstration site, so there isn't a link to visit but development files are available upon request.

This demonstration site involved:
  • CSS development
  • Graphic design
  • HTML5 development
  • Interaction design
  • Information architecture
  • jQuery
  • File optimization

The Law Office of Mary Griego

Brochure Site

Mary Griego is an independent attorney specializing in criminal defense who wanted a basic brochure site for her law office. Her goals were straightforward: provide her clients and prospects more information about her services. Mary also wanted the ability to maintain the content herself, and, in terms of design, she really wanted to emphasize the beauty of New Mexico.

I designed a simple site for The Law Office of Mary Griego, emphasizing her services and expertise with a Southwestern feel. For the CMS, I chose the simple and easy–to–use MojoMotor.

Since go-live, Mary has stepped away from her independent practice, so the site is no longer being maintained.

This simple brochure site involved:
  • CSS development
  • Graphic design
  • HTML5 development
  • MojoMotor CMS
  • Visual interface design
