Showcase of Selected Work

My work is as varied as my clients. From large corporations to small non-profit organizations. From independent development to team-based. From email design to complete sites with content management. Take a gander.

Podcast Site

The ExpressionEngine Podcast re-launched with a new design, courtesy of LeaLea Design. This design needed to be translated into markup, CSS and a content management system.

I developed the site using HTML5 with a number of CSS 3 enhancements. The CMS was built using ExpressionEngine (of course).

This web project involved:
  • CSS development
  • ExpressionEngine CMS
  • Graphic design
  • HTML5 development
  • JavaScript
  • File optimization

Nonprofit Site

The YMCA of Central New Mexico needed a complete redesign of their site, in order to align with the new national Y's rebranding. To support the new site, the YMCA also wanted a robust Content Management System for their large staff of content authors.

This was another full-cycle project, from wireframing and IA planning to the design and front-end build out. For the CMS, I used ExpressionEngine to create a powerful system for the Y's team of authors and editorial workflows.

This full-cycle web project involved:
  • CSS development
  • Content strategy
  • Editing/writing
  • ExpressionEngine CMS
  • Graphic design
  • HTML5 development
  • Interaction design
  • Information architecture
  • jQuery
  • File optimization
  • User experience design
  • Visual interface design
  • Wireframing

Brochure Site

Kefauver CPA is a small accounting firm in Tijeras, New Mexico. Rachel Kefauver, the owner, wanted a simple brochure site to highlight her staff and office, and provide additional information to clients.

For now, she's not interested in a CMS, so it was just a straightforward design and build-out. I used Rachel's logo as inspiration for the color palette, and we decided on a nice panoramic of the Sandias to emphasize her love of New Mexico.

This simple brochure site involved:
  • CSS development
  • Graphic design
  • HTML5 development
  • File optimization
  • Visual interface design

Protech Associates

Demonstration Site

Protech Associates is a mid-sized, family-owned company that develops Association Management Software. Protech needed a demonstration site for a new web-based software they were developing. The site would serve as the "shell" into which they would add their ASP.NET components for things like ecommerce and event registration.

I created a site for the fictional Society of Member Experience Professionals, starting with IA planning and wireframing. I then designed the interface and and built out the front-end.

I also worked with Protech's developers on the web components for their product, establishing standards for the HTML and CSS used in the ASP.NET components.

The site is an internal demonstration site, so there isn't a link to visit but development files are available upon request.

This demonstration site involved:
  • CSS development
  • Graphic design
  • HTML5 development
  • Interaction design
  • Information architecture
  • jQuery
  • File optimization
  • User experience design
  • Visual interface design
  • Wireframing

Business Site & Blog

I worked with eXperient Interactive as a sub-contractor for W3Conversions. The design was done in-house by eXperient, but they needed help with their front-end development and blog.

I built out the HTML, CSS and jQuery for the static PHP pages. I also themed WordPress for their simple blog.

This static PHP site and blog involved:
  • CSS development
  • HTML5 development
  • jQuery
  • File optimization
  • WordPress blog

Development work available upon request.

The Law Office of Mary Griego

Brochure Site

Mary Griego is an independent attorney specializing in criminal defense who wanted a basic brochure site for her law office. Her goals were straightforward: provide her clients and prospects more information about her services. Mary also wanted the ability to maintain the content herself, and, in terms of design, she really wanted to emphasize the beauty of New Mexico.

I designed a simple site for The Law Office of Mary Griego, emphasizing her services and expertise with a Southwestern feel. For the CMS, I chose the simple and easy–to–use MojoMotor.

Since go-live, Mary has stepped away from her independent practice, so the site is no longer being maintained.

This simple brochure site involved:
  • CSS development
  • Graphic design
  • HTML5 development
  • MojoMotor CMS
  • Visual interface design

User Group Site & Blog

Webuquerque, the New Mexico Adobe User Group for web professionals, needed a web site to post details about their monthly events, as well as group news and information.

Phase one of this project included interface and graphic design, as well as markup and CSS development. Originally developed as a static PHP site, Webuquerque is moving to ExpressionEngine during phase two. The new CMS will provided needed multi-author content management, blogging and member forums.

This full-cycle web project involved:
  • CSS development
  • Content strategy
  • Editing/writing
  • ExpressionEngine CMS
  • Graphic design
  • HTML5 development
  • Interaction design
  • Information architecture
  • User experience design
  • Visual interface design

Restaurant & Musiquarium

Blue Dragon needed a new site to showcase their unique "experience." Primarily a high-end restaurant, Blue Dragon also offers live music and events every night, as well as on-site bodywork and massage services. The site needed to showcase all three areas equally, providing a user-friendly food menu, events calendar, and bodywork services menu.

I partnered with a talented developer who handled the ExpressionEngine build-out, while I designed and developed the site front-end.

This front-end design and development project involved:
  • CSS development
  • Content strategy
  • Graphic design
  • Interaction design
  • Information architecture
  • User experience design
  • Visual interface design
  • Wireframing
  • XHTML development

Corporate Site

As a (former) employee of PBBI, I worked with a small team of developers to launch the company's corporate site using ExpressionEngine.

The design (visual, interaction and user experience) was outsourced to a third-party agency, which also developed the markup and CSS. Unfortunately, the agency didn't adhere to our team's internal standards.

I was individually tasked with "cleaning up" the markup to follow today's web standards (valid, semantic markup), as well as optimizing the CSS for better performance and maintenance.

I was individually responsible for:
  • CSS development
  • Graphic design
  • File optimization
  • XHTML development
As part of a team, I contributed to:
  • ExpressionEngine CMS

Duke City Tech is a local podcast focusing on technology-related events and news in Albuquerque. DCT need a simple site from which to stream podcasts and provide commenting and subscription options.

I developed the front-end designed based on inspiration from DCT's logo, which was outsourced to a graphic designer. The markup and CSS I developed was transformed into Drupal templates. The Drupal back-end was handled by another developer.

This front-end design and development project involved:
  • CSS development
  • Graphic design
  • Interaction design
  • User experience design
  • Visual interface design
  • Wireframing
  • XHTML development
