As an adaptable one-attorney practice, we occasionally accept referrals in other areas. However, because we are rarely able to accept new cases, we have developed a paid consultation service to help match your needs to a qualified attorney.

Criminal Case Evaluation & Referral
If you or someone you love is facing a criminal accusation, please take advantage of my consultation service. We will speak frankly about worst- and best-case scenarios. We’ll evaluate the case in light of your present strengths and weaknesses as well as your values and goals. We’ll make a tentative plan of attack. Then we’ll talk about what legal help you’ll need to work your plan and, if possible, estimate a budget of costs and fees.
Indigent Defense
For the 2010-2011 contract year, I am honored to accept felony cases assigned by the New Mexico Public Defender Department. Unfortunately, my clients must face serious charges even though they are "indigent," meaning unable to hire an attorney. I have chosen to reduce my private practice in order to make more time to fight these crucial cases.

Practice Philosophy: Adaptation
2009 was an exciting year for criminal lawyers in New Mexico. Our Supreme Court made dramatic changes in your pretrial rights. In January, the Court created a procedure for those suspected of felonies to put their case in front of ordinary citizens. Now, grand jury targets can fight to beat felony cases before the charges become a part of the public record. On the other hand, two sweeping decisions in June ended lawyers’ hopes of winning cases by delay alone. The modern legal landscape requires an attorney who can move aggressively to defend your rights.
